spoilt weekend

I was very very spoilt this weekend, two of my beautiful friends Nic B and Mrs Lairdy had told me to keep Saturday free as they had a birthday surprise for me. Yes it was my birthday in May - but if I can still get surprises in July then that is VERY cool!

So SP was told to drop me off at a secret location - where I met up with the girls, they immediately took me to Ella Bache where they had booked me in for an hour massage - it was SO NICE!! An hour later they came and picked me up with a 'Hazelnut Latte' from Starbucks -my favourite and some beautiful Singapore Orchids (like the ones I had in my bouquet - my favourite). They then drove me to the beach where we had a glass of wine and lunch, it was so lovely to hang out with my friends and to be soooooo spoilt... The lunch ended with lattes and a cake to share with a candle and with them singing me Happy Birthday! I loved that they were singing me Happy Birthday in July and everyone around must have thought it was my birthday too - tee hee. It was fun and I felt very special. I love those girls, they are very dear to me and I treasure their friendship.

After that we I went to pick up my 'pre-ordered' copy of Harry Potter 7, couldn't wait to get it open and start reading it so I started in the car and that was where SP lost me for a while, well for an hour or so as we had Goldy and Kym over for dinner and to watch the Swans v the Eagles. I made Shepherd's Pie, we ate chatted, had general good times other than the Swans lost ;( It was fun to have the girls over...

Sunday consisted quite simply of me reading Harry Potter, stopping occasionally for food and water and church but mainly reading. I loved the book, I loved the ending and I have to say I was a little bit teary too. My lovely husband was very patient with me reading all day.

Sad news flash! Ruth and AB are leaving church to go to another church in the Shire, it was announced last night at church. As sad as I am that they will be leaving us I know that this is God's will as he given them this new job. I believe that God has grown our friendship and I pray that he continues to grow it despite the distance. It is very exciting and scary I am sure for the Barry's but I am thankful for both AB and Ruth who have/are serving us well at CIM, the friends that they have become and the gift of sharing in their lovely boys lives ;)

just finished harry potter and the deathly hallows....

.....it is probably my favourite out of them all.

jk rowling a christian?

On the eve of the release of 7th and final Harry Potter book I was interested to here that JK Rowling professes to being a Christian, now I know there are a lot of people who do and aren't really, so yesterday I had a look on the internet and found a few articles, here is one from a number of years ago!

JK Rowling a Christian?

I guess only God truly know the hearts of his people but I wonder if she is!

book 4 down, 5 and 6 to go

I have just finished reading book 4 in the Harry Potter series, I am up to book 5 - the biggest book in the series and then there is book 6, another big one. I am going to try and get through as much as I can this week before the 7th book arrives on Saturday, not sure if I can do it but I would put off reading book 7 for up to a week if I think I can. So be sure not to tell me what happens just in case I make it through them all ;)

harry potter

Last night Ruth and I went to watch the 5th Harry Potter - is was really good, probably one of the best ones, although this one is even darker and you can't help but feel sorry for Harry. It was helpful to be reminded of some of the things that happen in this book although they obviously can't fit the whole book into a 2 1/2 hour movie! I wish they could and then I would be up to date in no time. Ruth does a good review on her blog!

It was even more enjoyable to hang out with Ruth in her last weeks of pregnancy, I am getting more and more excited to meet baby 'E'.. We had some good catch up time over dinner, on the way to and from the movies and she graciously drove me home - which was also an opportunity to de-brief on the movie and talk talk talk some more, we prayed and then it was off to bed for me and a drive home then bed for her. Thanks Ruth - it was a fab evening!

the harry potter dilemma continues......

..... with 12 days to go until the 7th Harry Potter book comes out it is apparent that there is NO WAY I am going to finish reading the two thirds of the 4th book and the mammoth 5th and 6th book by then - unless I quit my job and don't sleep for 12 days. I mean I do love Harry Potter but not that much ;)

So I have a choice, to finish reading the books in sequence and then read the 7th book once I am done. Or to just stop where I am once the 7th book comes out and start reading that, but after a conversation with a guy who works in my office about book 6 I realise I hardly remember it - OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, he also told me that is would be awful if someone told me what happened before I read it....

So anyhoo what to do what to do, I know in the scheme of things it's not the end of the world but I don't know what to do!

On a happy note I am hopefully going to watch the 5th movie with Ruth tomorrow night if we can get tickets - how fun!

the harry potter dilemma

I have just started reading the fourth Harry Potter, I decided to start reading through them again before the new book comes out in July BUT I only really read on the bus and so I am not as far along as I would like to be. The question is, do I

a. Keep working through the next 3 gigantic books until I finish and then read book 7, even if it is in November?

b. Just keep reading until book 7 comes out and then read that straight away?

I have read the books before but it was a long time ago - so I want to refresh my mind as to what happens...
