.....UK X-Factor winner Leona Lewis' new album 'Spirit', my Dad sent me it for Christmas, she has an awesome voice. You can check out some of the episodes from X-Factor on YouTube. One of the videos for this song has had over 20,300,000 hits - that is crazy! I predict she will be an international hit! (maybe she already is though and I just don't realise!)
This is the new version they filmed for the US.

tennis, squash, the weekend and update
So this weekend has consisted of watching some of the Australian Open - I am loving the tennis! I love tennis particularly when the underdogs give the champs a run for their money.
Game highlights have been Federer going 5 sets against the unseeded Tipsarevic guy, the Hewitt/Baghdadis match and watching Casey Dellacqua do well, even though she got knocked out last night!
Friday night we had dinner with two couples from our old church, it was lovely to see them and hang out. I miss seeing them regularly but it is great that we got to have dinner together...
Saturday night we had dinner at some of SP's family friends house - it was yummy. One of the ladies is a bit of a photographer so she was showing me her camera/lenses and pictures..
Yesterday SP and I went to play squash. I have NEVER played this game before in my life. SP used to play A-grade squash and I believe he is very good. This was the first time that he stepped onto the court since he snapped his achilles tendon just after we got married. SO, I don't think I have ever played a game where you use every one of your muscles and where you sweat so much and get out of breath. OK now I am not as my fittest at the moment given that I have done next to no exercise over the last several months (I need to work on this), but even if that wasn't the case I reckon this has got to be one of the best sports to get you in shape fast. We didn't even play a proper game as I didn't have much of an idea of what I was doing.. But I am keen to get to playing this game along with swimming and hopefully that should whip me into shape.. Today I have muscles that haven't been worked in a while and muscles I didn't know existed that are a bit sore today!
And in other non-sports related news:
I am feeling so much better since my docs appointment. I think she was right and everything seems to be a lot better.. At this time it is looking like everything has happened by itself ;) I am just praying that this is it. Thanks so much for praying for me, this whole saga seems like it has been going on for so long now. I am just ready to move on.. Please keep praying when you think of it!
I am totally loving our new church, I am excited to be there and look forward to going each Sunday. I just hope we get to know people a bit better over the coming weeks and months. It takes time to get to know people but I am feeling pretty patient about it. We are having our minister and his wife over tomorrow for dinner to find out more about church, the churches needs and where we might be able to serve. We are keen not to jump in to too much at first given that we don't know people all that well, we want to observe and see where we might be able to use our gifts in areas of need.
The minister yesterday was talking about 'pleasure' , he was talking about how God has created ALL things for good and how we are to enjoy them as long as we remember to worship and adore the creator over and above the created/creation! I think in this world it can be so easy to worship and love things and forget about the one who is behind those things. The creator of the universe, he is the one we should be putting first and he is the one who it should be a pleasure to know, love and adore..
Happy Monday!

yabbies
Here are some pics of the Yabbie's we caught and ate at Christmas. We caught 26 altogether, but I think I actually caught the most though ;)
When we transferred the Yabbie's to another shallow bowl ready to take them in to cook, they started to escape. I was freaking out because they have BIG pincher's and last time one of them pinched my finger and I couldn't get the little blighter off. You have to grab them in exactly in the right spot so they can't pinch you. SP came to the rescue, he caught the escapee's and put them back in the bucket. Mwah ha ha ha!
We caught, we had some escapee's, we cooked, we peeled and we ate. By the time you have peeled them though there isn't all that much left to eat...

this cracked me up!
The kid in Melbourne who organised the massive party that ended up with 500 kids storming his parents house and also caused damage was on 'A Current Affair' the other night, I just watched the interview on YouTube. The host was trying to get him to take off the glasses (we haven't seen off his face since all this happens) and she wanted him to offer an apology - she wanted that exclusive. After he refused this is what was said:
Leila McKinnon: "Go away and take a good long hard look at yourself."
Corey Worthington: "I have, everyone has and they love it."
For some reason this cracked me up - she didn't get the interview she wanted after all!
* I am not by any means condoning what this kid has done and the damage that was caused by his party! He deserves to be disciplined and fined for the damages.

quick prayer
Some things still don't appear right with my body since the miscarriage in November. This means I have to go back for another ultrasound to check all is clear.
If not it means I may have to have an operation (the one I really didn't want to have)! One of the silver linings of this whole thing was that I didn't have to have that but now it looks like I might anyway....
I would really appreciate if you could pray for me, I am going to the doctors on Thursday to find out more.
This is really tough for many reasons, especially as a few months have gone by now and I thought that would mean getting back to normal, but apparently not. I guess you have to do what you have to do.. It's just been such a long time and I am really over it! I just want everything to get back to normal!
I guess you never know and all might be ok, it may just be my body adjusting but I have felt uneasy for a little while now as I have had a feeling something is not well.
Thanks for your prayers!

guess who's back?
Yes, it is I.
I have returned from the land of holidays and am now back at home ready to get into work. Well, not actually 'ready' as such but nevertheless after 3 weeks off it is time to be back at work and into 'normal' life. Not sure if me and normal work in the same sentence?
I feel TOTALLY out of the loop, I have hardly spoken to people, been on the internet, read blogs or done any of the things that I normally do. That has been quite nice actually although I have missed catching up on all of your lives, bear with me as I catch up on my blog reading!!! I want to know what you have all been up to during the last few weeks I have been MIA.
I have been having a good ole time. Normally holidays go by so quickly that you wonder if you actually really had a holiday. Not this time. I feel like I have been off forever, ok slight exaggeration but I really do feel relaxed and rested - Praise God. I wonder how long that will last for? So what have I been up to you might ask, or you might not ask but I am going to tell you anyway! This could be a long post so bear with me.
So the holidays started with us traveling down to Canberra the weekend before Christmas to spend time with SP's family, we had an early Christmas with them as SP's sister was spending Christmas with her husband's family. We had a lovely time and it was great to capture little Jasmine's first Christmas on video. I will post some video and pictures up very soon.
We then headed back to home on Christmas Eve with SP's parents who spent the night with us at our place and then we headed to Newcastle for Christmas Day and Boxing Day, we headed home the following day to spend a few days at home - this was lovely. We went to the beach most afternoons, painted our garage (that was hard work) and just enjoyed being off and at our home... Then we had New Year's Eve with some lovely friends, we even had a visit from a missionary friend of ours who serves in China - he is home for a short time and it was soooo good to see him. We hadn't got to see him as we have moved churches, we are hopefully going to have him over this week or next for dinner... So NYE was fun and relaxed and then on the 2nd Jan we headed back to Canberra to spend a few more days with SP's family before we headed off for a week at a beach house SP's parents had booked which was part of our Christmas present. We got to play tennis, catch Yabbies (I have photos) and we also watched the cricket....
We drove down to the South Coast on Sat 5th Jan and stayed until Sat 12th Jan - it was so relaxing. I read a book, swam in the ocean, went fishing, went to the beach, played cricket, ate fish and chips on the beach, ate lovely food (we all took it in turns to cook) and enjoyed our little niece... I also have photos of the hols and will post them up soon.
We got back on Saturday to a new house - while we were away we had floating floor boards put through the living room and kitchen which looks fab! Yesterday we went to the movies to watch 'American Gangster' with Denzel Washington and my mate Russell Crowe...
We are loving our new church heaps and we are looking forward, now life is a back to normal, to getting involved with a bible study and getting to know people better, our new minister and his wife are coming over for dinner next week which should be good.
Anyhoo, that is a quick run through of my life over the last few weeks.
