dr nixter = wrong diagnosis and my cunning plan

Good job I am not a doctor as I did get it wrong, I don't have tonsillitis BUT I do have another infection in my throat - a respiratory infection this time = nice!

So I am once again contagious so have to be off work plus I need to rest, I am so frustrated as being sick it slows me down - I have things to do you know body!!!!! So I am once again on the drugs (nothing illegal - penicillin), I have another 50 to take after just finishing my other lot on Saturday. I am actually feeling pretty nasty, all through the night I kept waking up, the drugs haven't kicked in yet so feeling pretty miserable. It just started getting worse and worse as the day went on... Anyway I shall stop feeling sorry for myself and ask you to pray for me, that I might have a quick recovery.

In other news I am working on a cunning plan to get Marla (who wrote from 'Blushing Bride to Wedded Wife' and 'Is That All He Thinks About') out to Australia, I have been talking to various people (who run conventions in Australia and are on various Christian boards) about her books, handing them copies and talking to them about the possibility of having her talk at some different events. Not sure if it will happen yet BUT please pray that it might work (I obviously have selfish motives too), but I think it would be a major benefit to so many women if they heard Marla talk on some of the topics in her books and to see these amazing books get into more women's hands would be awesome. I honestly think they are a must for every girls book shelf. Please pray for God's will to be done and if it is meant to happen that HE would open the doors HE wants us to go through. If you have any ideas let me know!

Right, I must away and rest - doctors orders. Have a great Thursday!

tonsilitis revisited

I just finished taking my antibiotics on Saturday which I have been on since the end of Jan for my tonsillitis, then this morning I woke up with a sore throat AGAIN. I thought it might go once I was up and at em BUT alas it hasn't gone and Panadol isn't shifting it either. Please pray that it might not be the dreaded lurgy again as that would be no fun.

In other news, all I have been posting lately are funny videos or pictures as I have been quite busy that I haven't had time to sit down and write, and by the time I do have time all the interesting things happened a long time ago. I will do my best to fill you in briefly:

Last weekend was a girlie fest, I had friends stay over on both Friday and Saturday night as SP was at the Men's Convention. We had dinner, watched girlie movies, chatted, chatted and chatted - it was so much fun. Even though I missed my hubby I had a great time with my friends. Saturday morning at church we had a 'Women's Breakfast' and we were taught from the Titus 1, the talks were encouraging, breakfast was yummy and company was lovely.

The gym has been going well, we are now going Mon, Wed, Fri and Sun which means we get a rest day every other day which is nice. Still enjoying it (most the time), been doing the classes from hell - I mean the RPM classes which nearly kill you. I can tell I am getting fitter though as it is getting slightly easier.. Woo Hoot!

Well, I have to go and finish my talk for Adventure Club tomorrow - Why did Jesus have to die? Please pray for all the little kids that come along that God might be working in their hearts and that they might come to gain a deeper understanding of why Jesus came to earth. I can't wait to see all my little munchies tomorrow!

*I looked on google for pictures of tonsils - but I thought I would spare you = not pretty!

1 Thessalonians 2

Last night at bible study we had an awesome time, it normally is awesome but it was partiularly awesome last night. Last week we started looking at 1 Thessalonians, last night we got to 1 Thessalonians 2.

Paul continues to remind the Thessalonians that is isn't about him, it's about God, that it isn't about pleasing men, it's about pleasing God. I think that it is so easy for me to always think, it's about me, it's about doing what I please and what is pleasing to me. What can I do for me!!!!! But oh no this passage and Paul's example shows us that it isn't about us at all. It is all about God, about living for him, pleasing him and giving him the glory.

Even though Paul wasn't with the Thessalonians very long, a deep admiration and love between him and the Thessalonians had developed, he cared very much for them, and particularly for their relationship with God. What an example he was for them the Thessalonians, and for us too.

Two of the verses that stuck out for me from this passage were:

"For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory." 1 Thessalonians 2:11-12

This is my prayer, that as we meet together at church, at work, in bible study or even socially that we would be people who encourage each other, comfort each other in times of need and that we would urge and spur each other on to live lives that are pleasing to God and worthy of God.

snow glorious snow

Alas, not in Australia BUT in Worcester, England. This is my Mum, standing in the snow, doing a snow angel standing up ;)

It apparently snowed 6 inches one night and this was the result. It has been close to -10 degrees at night time Brrrrrrr, schools closed, kids off enjoying the fun weather BUT unfortunately for my Mum - work didn't close, so she had to trudge through the snow to get to work, trousers tucked in boots - nice look Mum!

I loooooooooove snow and wished I could have been there to enjoy it, when I was little I would have been ready for the call from school - hoorah no school, ready with my large piece of plastic to go to the golf links or my old school to sledge down the hills. Oh well instead I got absolutely soaked this morning on my way from the gym to work. No umbrella, wet soggy feet, wet hair, wet everything.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

busy busy busy tired tired tired

Things have been busy busy busy and I have been tired tired tired this week. I think it started with Sam and Sophia's wedding on Saturday night, it was an awesome and fun wedding but it meant I had a late night and then on Sunday we were busy, Monday night we had a friend of Scott's from work over who is looks like he is going to be getting a divorced from his wife = very sad. Tuesday we had to prepare bible study and then last night was bible study. All great and good things, I just think with the gym and everything it caught up with me the last 2-3 days BUT today I am feeling a bit less tired. Hoorah!

The gym is going well, we are still going around 4-6 times a week, we started doing the RPM class this week, we did it Monday and today - it is 45 minutes of absolute torture but it feels good once you stop. I am surprised I haven't had a heart attack!

I have been a grumpy tired wife this week, not enjoying the things that I normally enjoy and not being particularly good company - so if it enters your mind please pray for my attitude.

We have another wedding this weekend in the Blue Mountains, I brought a new outfit on Monday which I love, I don't normally buy new wedding outfits but we are in a new season of weddings and have a few more coming up this year so I thought I would treat myself with some left over Christmas money to a new outfit. Might post a picture if I remember.

Talking of weddings, I have been asked to be a bridesmaid to one of my close friends, but there is a slight hitch (hitch - get it?). I suppose it's not really a hitch (get it again?) but the wedding is in London in July 07. SP and I have been talking about it and haven't yet decided if I am going to go. SP won't be able to come because of work. Pray that we might make a wise decision.

I have Adventure Club today, my first one this year and I can't wait to see all the little kids again, it's going to be fun.. I think some of the kids I taught last year have gone into the next class, this is sad but I might get to meet some new faces which is cool....

Anyhoo, I just thought I would fill you in on life in Nixter's world. Have a great Thursday :)

is that all he thinks about?

My beautiful friend Marla has recently been to a book signing in Indiana for her new book 'Is that all he thinks about', I bet you can't guess what this book is all about???

Marla's first book 'From Blushing Bride to Wedded Wife' was the first and so far the only book of hers I have read, the new book is getting posted out soon ;) I have to thoroughly recommend 'From Blushing Bride to Wedded Wife' - it is awesome.

I first read it not too long after I got married and have been raving about it ever since, Marla has a way of meeting you where you are at, I breathed a sigh of relief when I read her words, she understood what being married was like, she tells it how it is and lovingly shares her experiences of what married life is like. I found the book encouraging, biblical, practical, hysterical, a relief and challenging. It was great to read that you are not alone, and I was given biblical godly advice on how I can love my husband more. There is so much in this book to take and apply to my marriage so many little golden nuggets to treasure. Marla's humour is fantastic, her compassion and honesty on various issues were insightful and encouraging.

I am not saying that marriage is now a doddle, or that we have no problems whatsoever, this is never going to be the case. BUT it was helpful in encouraging me to bring the things that are hard to God and think of things from a godly perspective and not from my own selfish perspective.

I recommend every women who is married, whether it's been 1 month or 60 years to check out this book, I am sure that you would find this book both helpful and a joy to read.

You can read a little of each book by clicking on the links at this site and you can order the books from this website

I will let you know how 'Is that all he thinks about?" is when I have read it. Stay posted!

marriages aren't made for heaven!

Yet again Sam in the City has some things to say on relationships and marriage. This makes me sad, I can hardly believe this is what some people think, but why am I surprised?

It's everywhere, all around us.

Marriages aren't made for heaven!

I believe that here on earth God has given us the gift of marriage and when we get married, it isn't just "for as long as we continue to love each other", "for as long as our love shall last" or "until our time together is over". Grrrr.

I do understand that some marriages can be complicated and that sometimes things happen which are out of your control, but God does intend it to be 'til death do us part'. It isn't just for Christmas it is for life, or at least until Jesus returns. Marriage isn't always a walk in the park, it is hard work (with my many months (10 mths) experience) I should know. It's not only God who tells us what is best when it comes to marriage, statistics have also proven that people who are married are more likely to stay together than those in a defacto relationship.

Marriage is a gift from God, not to be entered into lightly, it is for life. It's hard at times but an absolute joy at times too.
