wrong way go back

I have always found it quite funny since living in Australia that they have a road sign for people who have taken a wrong turn and are going down the road the wrong way, the sign says "Wrong way, go back". I thought this was hysterical when I first saw it and still find it amusing. As I was on the bus yesterday I was thinking about that and how in our walk with God, we too can often be going the wrong way...

I guess if you go the wrong way on the road and you see that sign 'Wrong way, go back' you have 2 choices. Listen to what the sign says and turn around 'go back' OR keep going and see what dangers are ahead. As with our walk with God, we can continue down the wrong way - I feel like I have been going down this road a little, not even in a HUGE way but just in little things. Forgetting to talk to God in prayer, not reading my bible, not trusting God, not bringing things to God and I really miss it. Some of these things are not commanded of us BUT they are things that draw us closer to God and keep us going the 'right way'.

So when I saw that sign yesterday it made me think about my relationship with God, am I trusting him with all that I am and all that I have? Am I talking to him regularly in prayer? Am I reading his word to hear what he has to teach me? Now I am aware that all of these things don't make me right with God but they are the things that keep me focused on God. My prayer is that I might go back and turn to the one who made me, who loves me, who died for me and who will one day return to give us eternal life.

tonsillitis

I thought I was getting sick on Sunday/Monday, I had a really sore throat but didn't think too much of it. I carried on working, exercising and doing what I do BUT the last two days my right tonsil has been so sore and it is HUGE! SP booked me into a new local doctor this morning (my other doc is all the way over where I used to live and work). I found out I have tonsillitis!

I don't feel too bad, I am a bit tired, have a temperature and my throat (if I don't take drugs) is really sore. So he signed me off work (I could be contagious ), he told me to rest and gave me some antibiotics to fight this nasty little bug.

So I just got a couple of DVDs and am going to lie on the couch and just chill out = doctors orders, not the DVD bit, just the rest bit!

I hope my hubby doesn't get it, it also means I will have to lay off over doing it at the gym for a few days so my body can fight, fight, fight, fight, fight!!

Hope you all have an awesome day. Tomorrow is Australia Day so everyone gets to take the day off work - Yippee!!!! We are having some people over for a BBQ, which should be fun as long as I don't give them all the dreaded lurgy.....

Will let you know how the day goes at the weekend or on Monday, Ta Ta for now

we did it, but....

..... I am so tired this morning. This morning marked our fourth visit to the gym this week. Woo Hoot! I was tracking OK but this morning when I woke up my body didn't want to play gym. Once we got there it was fine, I did 40 mins on the cardio equipment, a little less than I have been doing the rest of the week and then we did some ab work.

Now I am sitting at work, my body just managing to work with me, I had a fruit boost drink from Boost with an extra shot of something which was meant to keep me going, an hour later IT IS NOT WORKING! I have to push through the tiredness and get to three weeks. Three weeks = routine!

Anyhoo, remember that weekend I was talking about, it starts tomorrow - Yeh!

Hope you guys all have an awesome weekend! Enjoy!

bored and fed up with your life? - buy a new one

I am so not sure if this guy is for real, but anyhoo I thought it was funny. If you like doing hand stands, fire twirling and surfing - there could be a new life* waiting for you.

You have 4 weeks training in how to be someone else, plus an additional two months of on-call support from the person whose life you would be taking on.

There are a few things to consider, if you take on this new life. You will need to become a vegetarian, a friend owes you a six-pack of beer and you will need to bid higher than the current bidder (which is $150,301.00)

Please apply here

*this person has nowhere suggested that he is a Christian - please take this into consideration when thinking about taking on new lives!

series 6 of 24 starts @ the end of Jan

I am so excited to find out that the new series of 24 starts on Channel 7 on the 30th January at 8.30pm, it starts off with a two hour special and then a further two hours on 1st February. I just love this show and I can't wait to see what happens to Jack Bauer next.

Bring it on.

furry fruit

My friend and I were emailing today and she told me she was having peach and yogurt.

Peaches = furry fruit = yuck. I just can't do it.

I mean I love the taste of the inside of a peach but I just can't do the furry bit, so I just have myself nectarines instead, just like peaches but NO fur.... Kiwi's are the same in the fur stakes too. Great inside but nasty and furry outside. Does anyone else understand where I am coming from?

Anyhoo, being summer it is a great season for fruits and in no particular order here are some of my favs, obviously peaches didn't make the list due to the fur.

1. Banana's (thank the Lord they have come down considerably in price)
2. Strawberries
3. Cherries
4. Nectarines
5. Apples (not the really sour ones though)
6. Blueberries
7. Grapes
8. Oranges/Tangerines
9. Mangoes
10. Pineapple

These are my top 10 as of today. What are yours?

is it nearly the weekend?

Life can get busy and I can get lazy. We live in a beautiful country where the weather is just lovely so why haven't we been making the most of it?

When I first arrived I used to go to the beach all the time and be out and about all the time, enjoying the outdoors leaving the house work behind me to go and do something fun! Now I like to have our house looking nice and clean which is fine but then in the evenings and on the weekends we haven't been making the most of where we live or the outdoors. Don't get me wrong I love hanging out at home, chilling, watching some TV and just being BUT it can get a bit old. Also, being our first year of marriage we are learning lots of things about balance, things I am sure we will continue to learn but I am keen to start having more 'up and go'. This weekend we have big plans:

Saturday morning - All church leaders, bible study leaders (that's us), kid leaders (that's me) etc are meeting up in the morning to discuss the next year and then we are heading off to the beach for a picnic and for some fun.

Saturday evening - SP suggested we go out for a nice dinner in the evening - I mean who is going to argue with that?

Sunday - we are going to do the Spit to Manly walk which is a beautiful 9 km walk. One of our friends who we haven't seen for a long time, who MC'd at our wedding is coming with us too.

So all in all a fun packed weekend which I am really looking forward too, we didn't really get much chance to catch up with everyone at church on Sunday night as people were popping by to say welcome back, so Saturday morning will be a great opportunity to say hi to people and spend some time hanging out. Plus we are adding the element of exercise + fun by going on a lovely walk - who would have thought it...

Is it nearly the weekend yet?

Healthy eating = check
Exercise = check, gym last night + this morning = :-)

nixter = official gym member

Yes it is true, SP and I have finally joined up to a gym. After much talking and debating we popped into a gym yesterday, one which is between home and work and signed up, tonight is our first night. I am going to meet SP there, work out for a while and then we have our 'orientation'.

I am pretty excited and keen to get back in shape after no exercise since SP and I got married and then lots of eating over Christmas. I dislike the 'sluggish' feeling we have both had and when I run up the stairs I nearly have a heart attack. We are both pretty unfit at the moment but we are looking forward to frequenting the gym about 4 times a week.

Watch out Arnie is all I can say!

mac or pc? that is the question!

SP and I are thinking about getting a new computer for home, we are using a laptop that I brought over when I came to Australia (2 1/2 years ago) which I have had for about 4-5 years. It is almost out of memory and it can be super slow.

So now we have the big question, do we buy a Mac or a PC? We mainly use the computer at home for pictures, internet, Skype, movies, word and excel. What to do? what to do? This is a big dilemma.

We both use PC's at work but I used to use a Mac and quite liked it, SP has never used a Mac so isn't sure.

Any thoughts?

pics from my trip - be warned there are a lot!

back in Oz, back @ work

Well, I have touched down and landed and I am back in Oz and back at work today. I have no idea where the time went but I had a great time with family and friends in England and I will miss it heaps.

I am surprised I am able to coherently type and got to work, the jet lag should have been bad given the flight times BUT so far so good. Let's hope it doesn't hit and all will be normal, will let you know how that goes. While I was away I tried to post some pics but couldn't I will post a slide show right after this.

leaving on a jet plane

Tomorrow is the sad day we have to say our good-byes to family and England and fly back to Sydney. My parents are coming in the morning, we will spend the day with them and then they will take us to the airport in the evening. Please pray for us as we say good-bye and for our long flight home.

I will write more when I am back in Sydney, your prayers would be much appreciated :-)

I hate good-byes

It has been a while since I have been in the blog world, I have scanned a few blogs since I have been here but not really got to sit down and write as we have been having a busy busy time here in England. We just today said sad good-byes to my Dad and my little sisters in Worcester and we are now back in London, once again staying with my old house mate and her hubby in my old house. I hate saying good-byes it breaks my heart, I think it is especially hard this time as we have yet to set some dates for when we are next going to see each other - that makes it harder. We can't just say "see you in December" as we haven't organised a time yet. I think we will try and do that in the next few months so we have the next trip to look forward too. Needless to say there have been many tears shed last night saying good-bye to my Nan and Gan-Gan and today saying bye to Dad and the girls. My Mum and Jules are coming to London on Saturday to take us to the airport and see us off, which will be nice :)

We spent some good time with family in Worcester over Christmas and New Year - it was good to catch up and hang out with all my family. We took SP to the Malvern Hills (but it rained), out around Worcester, to the beautiful Cotswold's and out to some traditional pubs to sample local ales..

Back in London we plan to do a few things before we leave. Today we met up with an old friend who has been living in Bosnia for 2 years, we had Lebanese food and then went to Starbucks for old times sake. It was so good to see Kendra and hang out with her in London. We just arrived back in Wimbledon and I am currently looking for some tickets to go and watch Les Miserables in the West End tomorrow (actually I am currently blogging and looking at tickets at the same time). I regretted not seeing Les Mis when I used to live here and when I came back last year, so my lovely hubby said we can go, if we can find reasonable tickets of course. We plan on going around London to get some pictures - SP wants to take some with his fancy camera so we can get some blown up and put them on the walls.

Anyhoo, I do have photos but I have been bad about downloading them from the camera to the computer - but maybe after dinner I will get to post some pics. My wonderful hubby is cooking dinner for us so must away, I am sure I have so much more to tell you sowill keep thinking and writing it as it comes to me.

Hope you all had an awesome New Year.
