roughing it for Jesus

This year MTS decided to do something new.

Challenge with a difference. A 42km walk in Katoomba - talking and walking, camping and bible talks, this year was a bit of a logistical experiment but it worked like a dream and so we are hoping that next year we can promote it to a wider group of people.

Check out the video invite below.

what do you reckon to this?

I have just been searching the internet for litter trays and stuff for cats.

I am a total clean freak and use bleach to clean, so whilst I am happy to have a kitty I am also mindful of keeping my house clean and smelling nice.

So while I was looking for a solution, I came across this. 'The Litter Kwitter'. Hmmmm.

just got to see some friends from my old church

It was lovely to see a bunch of my wonderful friends!

Congrats Nathan and Jen on getting hitched. It was a great wedding.

Simple but lovely!

our new family member

Introducing our new little baby...........Moses!

the world's greatest shave

Last year a good friend of ours who is a work colleague of SP's found out he has lymphoma cancer, even though many tests could not locate any further cancer, the cancer they had found was a very aggressive sort. After seeing various doctors and specialists it was recommended that he go on a 2 year course of chemotherapy. This January he started his intense chemo, he has been very sick and in and out of hospital getting treated, he has recently had to come off the chemo as he has been so sick. He also has a 2 1/2 year old little girl and another one due next month.

Firstly I would love for you to pray for this family and pray for wisdom for us in how to support them through this, they live very close to us and SP has been an amazing support and visited his friend when he has been in hospital for the many hours receiving treatment. We also went over a few weeks ago to shave his hair off as it had started to fall out. Our prayers are that we might be able to share Christ with them and love/support them in the ways in which they need.

So next week my lovely husband has decided he is shaving his head for the 'World's Greatest Shave', he has been letting his hair grow ready for the big day. I will make sure he gets some before and after shots.

Secondly, if you want to support him let me know and I can send you the link, you can sign up and sponsor him on the web.

my experience at the cricket

On Sunday, SP, Kym and I went to the cricket - and oh my word what an experience. I had no idea what to expect as I have never been to the cricket before.

It wasn't the most entertaining game I have ever seen, the highlight being Tendulka's century but here are some of the things I observed at the cricket:

1. A streaker. I have no idea how they even make it on the pitch but anyway they did. Had to look away!
2. How there were a lot of drunken people shouting annoyingly ALL day long.
3. How said drunk people thought they were funny but were not funny at all. At least if they were a little bit funny it wouldn't have been so painful.
4. How other drunk people laugh at said drunk people trying to be funny, thus encouraging the said drunk people to continue thinking they are funny and to continue being annoying.
5. How rude the crowd were.
6. How rude Harbhajan Singh was.
7. How Harbhajan Singh DID make monkey guestures to the crowd - I saw him do it!
8. How passionate and fun the Indian supporters were.
9. How long of a day it was. We arrived at 2.15pm and left at 10.15pm.
10. How hot it is when you are sitting in the direct sunlight for 4 1/2 hours.
11. How even if you apply factor 30 sunscreen 3 times in 4 1/2 hours you still really catch the sun.
12. How the crowd entertain themselves by seeing how long they can make a beer snake. (I had no idea what this was but it is where people put all the empty plastic beer cups together to form a 'snake').
13. How disgusting the sausages in those hot dogs you can buy look. Blah!
14. How many people got chucked out of the cricket ground.
15. How most people in the members stands do not participate in the Mexican wave.
16. How fast the bowlers bowl, you really don't realise how fast they bowl on TV. It's fast.

It was good to attend a good old game of cricket but I am not sure that I would go again! Maybe to a shorter game like 20/20.

dory hitched a ride on the porcelain express :(

My little fish Dory died yesterday, after a record 6 months in my care. Actually 'Shark-bait ooh ha ha' lived a bit longer than that. I don't know what I did, there was a fish in our office by the name Commets, that one lived for over 2 years, and I think he may still be alive. Commets didn't have as much care as Dory, it would swim in green water and not get fed for a few days (please don't contact the RSPCA!) but I used to feed and clean Dory regularly - but to no avail. A few days ago he started looking a bit 'green in the gills', pardon the pun and sure enough I got home last night and he (yes HIS name was Dory) was a goner... Strangely enough though - he wasn't floating on the surface - isn't that meant to happen once they die?

Anyhoo as you have probably gathered I am not all that emotional about it, I am a little sad but it is only a fish and you can't really bond with fish. I couldn't flush Dory down the toilet though, I just don't like doing that, so I had to wait for SP to come home and do the final duties, of sending Dory on his final journey, hitching a ride on the porcelain express*.

If you know any ways of bonding with fish please let me know.

*If you haven't seen Finding Nemo - shame on you!

scripture

This week I am starting to help out with scripture, my good friend is teaching scripture in the area where I now go to church for the church I now go too, BUT she has 44 kids in her class - this is very exciting but far too much work for one person. She asked if I might be able to help out and after some consideration and a challenging sermon I have decided I would be delighted to help.

It's on Thursdays - which is my day. What a privilege to be able to share the gospel with the kids in our local area.

It's been several months since I have done any kids ministry, plus scripture is going to be quite different to Adventure Club but at the end of the day it is all about teaching little ones about our Lord and Saviour - I am looking forward to starting.

Please pray that we would get to know these kids quickly and that we might be godly in the way we teach, and speak to them.

I will keep you posted!
