weekend of sickness and fun

Today is Tuesday already where did the weekend go?

We had Sam, Soph and Kymmy over on Friday night for dinner, I cooked a lamb roast and some brownie for dessert - yummo!!! It was fun!

Saturday we went to the shopping centre (or 'mall' as you Americans and Aussies say), I purchased some lovely new shoes. I don't buy shoes very often but found a fab pair of red shoes and some lovely silvery/goldie shoes - that I just love.. I don't do heels as my Mum says I look like a duck when I walk in them (I really do) - plus I am a 'comfort' girl... I have some little kitten heel shoes which I wear with dresses or skirts if we go out to weddings and stuff, I would wear my Ugg boots if I could but don't think SP would let me... Saturday night we were both feeling pretty yuck but had a 30th to go too, it was just at our friends house and pretty casual which was nice, we stayed for an hour or two and then left as we were both beat.

Sunday was a relaxing day, we weren't feeling too well so patience was not running high. We went for lunch at a Thai restaurant but didn't talk much - not because we were angry at each other but because we felt so rotten - we went home and decided to watch a movie - we watched 'Casino Royale', the names Nixter, English Nixter. Yeah not quite the same ring to it as Bond, James Bond but you have to work with what you got. Is was a good Bond film, we both enjoyed it. We also pigged out on Doritios and Chocolate - naughty but nice...

Sunday night was church and it was awesome, the best sermon I have heard in a while. It was called 'We are Family' - it made me want to sing that Sister Sledge number but I didn't.. Lairdy preached on the book of Philemon and it was great... It was about how we have a Father in heaven and as God's children we are all brothers and sisters in him - how we are to forgive, love and pray for each other. I might write some more on this as it was really really good or I may just post the link when the talk in online, Sam had some thoughts here.

Please pray for us as we are still sick. Slowly getting better though which is good. I am off to the doctors tomorrow to try and find out why I have been getting sick so much.

Hope you have a great Tuesday.

Good on you David - that's what I like to hear. As I first hear 'mall' in America and never in England, I find I say it the American way 'Maullllllll'...

Yep. Shops or shopping centre - or in the case of westfield parramatta "ridiculous shopping centre."

We had fun on Fri nite too.

I'm an American-English-hating Aussie, and I agree- it isn't a mall

Well... I guess I'm an American through and through and call it the mall! :) Can't wait to see your pix with your new lens - What fun!! And hope you are feeling better soon!!!

I agree with all my fellow aussies definetely not a mall, shopping centre, shops, or by the name of the shopping centre eg. The Metro for marriickville metro.

I can't wait to take some pix too Shelley, this week I am off to the zoo with Ruth so will take some and post them then.

Looks like shopping centre is more popular than I realised...

Now wait just a minute here! How do you think I feel knowing that you hate the way I sound and speak? I was born and raised here. This is who I am. "American-English" isn't bad. It is different than what you are used to, that's all.

It figures that you would end up being speech pathologist.

Oh yes...I forgot about the original comment I was going to make. I got so distracted by the "American-English hater".

Nixter, dear. Perhaps you should choose something other than Thai food or doritoes and chocolate if you are not feeling well.

Hey Priscilla - thanks for the top tip, I guess that's probably very good advice. Look what happens when I live so far away from my Mum = eats bad food when sick.

Thanks for caring!

Thank you Priscilla, I agree with you completely. I too am an American and it is a mall, not a shopping centre or center. You English and Aussies are all mixed up ;)

Hey katep - it's just shopping centre or just regular 'shops' is all we call it. You shoudl be able to fin ones with 'food halls' though, not sure which ones they have in Oxford..

When are you coming back for that Thai?

by the way I am definately not an American-English-hating English girl. Just wanted to clarify!

I was just noticing the fact that Aussies use a few 'American' words and pronunciations too ;) eg Yogurt YO-GIRT. Not YOG-UT like we English say ;) There is nothing wrong with that - it's just an observation.

It appears that I live near a shopping centre with 'mall' in the title so maybe that's why I hear it more. it appears that Aussies do call it shopping centre more than mall - it all becomes clear!!!

I am sorry if anyone took my comment as offensive. I did not mean it to be so.

I didn't take offense Pudds..

Nixter, I'm so happy you had fun at the MALL and bought some wonderful SHOES. I hope you feel better soon.

My professional advice is definitely Doritos and Chocolate are not the best foods for when you are sick. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't join you... :o)
